Oracle Text - July 20/21 (No Space Left - future dates posted soon)

Structured data includes numeric fields, dates, and other data that is very well defined and easily queried. It can be stored in or out of the database. Unstructured data is everything else. MS Word documents, PDF files, large blocks of text, HTML, XML, and more. According to Gartner, approximately 80% of data in enterprises can be classified as unstructured. This data cannot be effectively queried with traditional SQL syntax. Oracle Text, which is included with every database license, provides advanced search capabilities for unstructured data. Think of it as Google for the database. It also allows you to perform advanced document filtering, like classification and clustering.

The Oracle Text class is two days and takes you from beginner through advanced topics. In this class you will learn:

    • Index types and when to use them
    • Different features available in different versions
    • Index creation
    • Lexers, filters, wordlists, stoplists, datastores, storage
    • Working with multilingual data
    • Classification and clustering
    • Queries

Bring your questions and your data if you wish. The last two hours of class are hands-on devoted to your specific needs. If you have data, we will load it to your lab machine work with it.
